Paddick Engineering - established 1981

Civil Engineering

Our civil engineering team takes development sites from appraisal to buildable design: drainage and SuDS, flood risk, highways and access, earthworks and foundations. Developers and builders use us because the civil and structural design come from one practice - coordinated, not contradictory.

Development engineering services

  • Site appraisals and feasibility - what a site can take and what it will cost to serve
  • Foul and surface water drainage design, including Section 104 adoption
  • SuDS design and drainage strategies for planning
  • Flood risk assessments
  • Highways and access design, including Section 278/38 works
  • Earthworks: cut and fill analysis, levels and retaining structures
  • Foundation zoning across sites

From planning condition to approved drawing

Much of our civil work exists to discharge planning conditions: drainage strategies, SuDS details, flood risk assessments, access designs. We produce documents that satisfy the local authority, the lead local flood authority and the water company - and we deal with their comments until the condition is discharged.

For small and medium housebuilders, our combined offer is the practical advantage: one practice carries the site from land appraisal through drainage, roads, foundations and superstructure design.

Frequently asked questions

Do you take on small sites?

Yes - a large share of our development work is small sites: a house or two on a garden plot, infill sites, small commercial units. The same disciplines apply at every scale, and small sites are often the ones that most need efficient engineering.
