How we work
You get a practical engineer, not just a set of numbers. We design to suit how your builder actually builds - sensible member sizes, buildable connections and details that don't create problems on site. Our calculations and drawings are prepared for Building Control submission and we deal with Building Control queries as part of the job.
If your project starts with a survey - a crack, a beam, a question about what's load-bearing - the same practice carries it from inspection through design to approval, so nothing is lost between consultants.
Who we work with
Homeowners come to us directly, usually at the point their architect or builder says 'you'll need an engineer'. Architects use us as their calculation and structural design partner. Builders send us their trickier jobs. Developers use our combined structural and civil capability to take sites from appraisal to approved design - one practice, one point of contact.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a structural engineer for my extension?
Almost certainly, yes. Any extension involving new openings in existing walls, beams over openings, foundations or roof alterations needs structural calculations for Building Regulations approval. Your builder can't sign that off themselves - Building Control expects an engineer's design.
Do you work with my architect's drawings?
Yes - that's one of the most common ways projects come to us. We take the architect's proposed drawings and produce the structural design and calculations to suit, coordinating directly with the architect where needed.
How much does a structural engineer cost?
It depends entirely on scope - a single beam calculation is a few hundred pounds; a full house structural design is more. We quote a fixed fee up front, so there are no surprises.
